  • Comment: I am in the library sector and familiar with blibiotheca, and believe they could meet WP:GNG, but the way this article is written seems to be just praise for the company and reads more like a press release than an encyclopedia article. I was interested in helping out with the article given that it's a topic I know about, but I suspected it was paid editing and the profile of the writer confirms that. It is very clear in the way it is written. If you can not write about the subject in an encyclopedic tone, it is not worth continuing to submit. -- NotCharizard 🗨 08:28, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

There should be no links pointing to external resources until the footnotes in the 'References' section (with the exception of one optional web link in the infobox). Bibliotheca

[edit]

Bibliotheca LLC (commonly known as Bibliotheca) is a multinational library technology company headquartered in Lake Elmo, Minnesota, United States.[1] It develops and supplies self-service, extended access, communication, security, automated material handling (AMH), and mobile solutions for public, academic, and private libraries globally.

History

[edit]

Bibliotheca was established in 2011 through the merger of three independent library technology companies: Bibliotheca (Switzerland), Intellident (United Kingdom), and Integrated Technology Group (ITG) (North America).[2]

In 2012, the company acquired Trion AG, a European supplier of automated material handling systems.[3]

In 2015, Bibliotheca purchased the Library Systems division of 3M, incorporating its self-service and security products into its offerings.[4]

In 2024, the company sold its cloudLibrary platform to OCLC, a nonprofit library technology cooperative.[5]

In addition, Bibliotheca has been noted for its role in industry discussions, including public commentary on the impact of e-book licensing practices on libraries.[6]

Operations

[edit]

Bibliotheca serves regions across North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. It is backed by One Equity Partners, an investment arm of JP Morgan Chase & Co.[7]

The company’s technologies, such as RFID-based self-service kiosks and automated material handling systems, have been adopted by public libraries across various regions to improve service efficiency and streamline operations.[8]

Bibliotheca’s open+ solution, which enables libraries to offer extended access hours without staff present, has been implemented in several locations in North America and Europe.[9]

In 2025, the company leased a new 32,000-square-foot facility in Lake Elmo, consolidating its shipping and office operations.[1]
