Chikodili Benita Ugochukwu, professionally known as Benita Onyiuke, is a Nigerian actress, filmmaker, writer, and producer. She is known for her work in Nollywood films, particularly romantic dramas and family-centered stories. Over the years, she has received multiple award nominations both locally and internationally for her performances and productions.[1][2] She began her career in the entertainment industry as a teenager and has become one of the notable young female producers in Nollywood.[3]

Early life and education

Benita Onyiuke was born on 29 May 1991 in Nigeria to Dr. Edwin Onyiuke Akpofe and Ms. Adaora Roseline Akpofe (nee Akpuaka) She is originally from Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State and grew up in a family of six. She began acting at the age of 16 in 2007.[4] ==

Onyiuke began her career in Nollywood in 2007, appearing in romantic dramas and family-themed films. She later expanded into producing and screenwriting, developing original stories that often explore love, societal issues, and personal transformation. She is known for empowering new talent in the Nigerian film industry, having worked with over 50 production crew members and given many emerging actors their first major roles. She also contested for Mbgn in 2014 (most beautiful girl in Nigeria) representing Benue state as Benita Akpofe. [5] In 2025, her film A Ride with Forever was officially selected for screening at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF).[1]

She was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress (Africa) category at the 2024 TINFF for her role in *Tender Hedges*.[6] In 2023, she won the Best Lead Actress in English at the Nigeria Achievers Awards for her performance in *Perfect Plan*.[7]

Benita Onyiuke is married to Mr. Ugochukwu, and they have three children. She balances her family life with her career as an actress, writer, and producer.
