Draft:Bengali Islamic nationalism

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bengali Islamic nationalism or Bengali muslim nationalism is a form of Bengali nationalism where religious identity (Islam) and regional identity (Bengali) interact and influence political discourse and social movements in Bangladesh. It's not a monolithic entity, but rather a spectrum of views and actions, with some emphasizing the shared Islamic heritage of Bengali Muslims and others prioritizing a secular Bengali nationalism.[1][2]

History

[edit]

History of Bengali Islamonationalism can be traced back to persian cultural and linguistic influence in Bengal. Farsi was mainly popularized by stories and writings who were written by predominantly muslims during 1300s era. The Farsi language also played huge role in politics. It was official language of Bengal Sultanate. Most of the Sultans of Bengal were either persian of persianized Bengalis.[3]
