Ayodhyalanka (Telugu: అయోధ్యలంక) is a picturesque river island village located in the Achanta mandal of West Godavari district, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The village is uniquely situated between the branches of the Godavari River, connecting the East Godavari and West Godavari districts. The only access to Ayodhyalanka is by boat, as there are no bridges or road links to the mainland.
Geography
[edit]Ayodhyalanka lies in the deltaic region of the Godavari River and has an average elevation of 14 meters above sea level. The village is known for its serene environment, rich biodiversity, and scenic natural beauty. Migratory and native birds are often spotted in the area, and the absence of roadways and vehicles has helped preserve its peaceful, pollution-free atmosphere.
Transport
[edit]The village has no bridges or road connectivity. The only mode of transportation is via country boats and small ferries, which connect the village to either side of the river, one leading to East Godavari district and the other to West Godavari.
Demographics and Language
[edit]The official language spoken in Ayodhyalanka is Telugu. The village community practices traditional agriculture and fishing.
Education
[edit]Ayodhyalanka has a Mandal Parishad Upper Primary School (MPUPS), which is managed by the local government.[1]
Ecology and Lifestyle
[edit]Due to its isolation, Ayodhyalanka retains a close connection with nature, featuring coconut groves, paddy fields, and open riverbanks. It is considered one of the cleanest and most peaceful localities in the region, with no vehicular pollution and limited urban intrusion.
