Dr. Ayo Oluwagunna
[edit]Dr Ayo Joseph Oluwagunna is a gospel preacher, author, speaker, and creative communications expert. He is the founder and president of Firelight Global Gospel Network, a non-denominational Apostolic gospel commission committed to holiness, revival, and equipping believers to find and fulfil divine purpose for society’s transformation and transgenerational global impact.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Ayo Oluwagunna was born and raised in Nigeria into a Muslim family. He had a life-transforming conversion experience by which he became a Christian on 13 September 1990.
He began his primary education at Lagos Premier Day School (1975–1982), and later attended Ansar-Ud-Deen Secondary School, Lagos (1983–1988). He obtained a National Diploma in General Arts from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, graduating with Distinction as the best student in the department in 1992. He proceeded to the University of Benin, where he earned a First Class Honours degree in Fine and Applied Arts (Graphics Major) in 1997. He graduated as the overall best student in the university and was Valedictorian at the 1998 convocation ceremonies.
He later pursued theological training, earning a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from West Africa Theological Seminary, Lagos, where he was also the best graduating Master’s student in 2017. He was on periodic residencies as a Doctoral student of Asbury Theological Seminary, Kentucky, United States, from where he received his Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree in Preaching and Leading (PLE) after his memorable ministry immersion trip to South Korea, in 2021. His doctoral dissertation is titled Now, Tomorrow is Leaving Yesterday: Departure of Campus Youths from Church.
Professional Career
[edit]Ayo Oluwagunna began his career as an Art Director with Insight Communications Ltd. (now Insight Publicis), Lagos, a top advertising and marketing communications agency affiliated with Grey Worldwide, from 1999 to 2003. He later served as Head of Creative and Production at CSA, a branding and logistics firm in Lekki, Lagos (2004).
He is the founder and Managing Director of Art3butes Communications, an integrated branding and marketing communications company based in Lagos. He is a certified Associate Registered Practitioner of Advertising (ARPA).
He also serves as an adjunct lecturer in theological seminaries, contributing to the training of theologically sound and spiritually grounded Christian leaders.
Ministry
[edit]Dr Oluwagunna is the founder of Firelight Global Gospel Network, a non-denominational Apostolic-Transitionist commission focused on liberation, illumination, and destiny activation. The ministry runs regular prophetic and revival programmes including:
- Prophetic Portal Services (1st and 3rd Sundays monthly)
- Victory Voice Vigil (4th Friday monthly)
Views and Teachings
[edit]Dr Oluwagunna teaches the biblical integration of spiritual life with social relevance. He emphasises the demonstration of the Gospel with purity, signs, and wonders, advocating for Biblical leadership patterns and youth empowerment.
Personal Life
[edit]He is married to Dr Oluwakemi Ruth Oluwagunna, an educationist and visionary youth and women leader. They have three Children. Their first child, Eniola Shalom Oluwagunna, was Valedictorian of Crawford University in 2023.
