Axel Sergues is a French aerospace engineer and operations director at the Centre National d'Études Spatiales (CNES). He currently serves as Director of Operations at the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), overseeing launch activities.
Career Sergues joined the Guiana Space Centre in 2017, where he was responsible for various operational roles in the launch complex. In December 2022, he was appointed Director of Operations, playing a key role in coordinating launch campaigns for European space missions.
On July 9, 2024, Sergues served as Deputy Launch Operations Director (DDO/A) for the maiden flight of Ariane 6, supporting Raymond Boyce, the principal Launch Operations Director (DDO). His responsibilities included overseeing the launch sequence and ensuring safety protocols were followed.
In March 2025, Sergues assumed the role of primary Launch Operations Director for the first commercial Ariane 6 flight, with Boyce as his deputy. His promotion highlighted his expertise in managing critical space operations.
