Arena Grandmaster
[edit]The Arena Grandmaster (AGM) is a chess title awarded by the FIDE Online Arena (FOA), the official online gaming platform of the International Chess Federation (FIDE). It is the highest title available through the FOA, ranking below traditional over-the-board FIDE titles.
History
[edit]Arena titles were introduced by FIDE in 2014 to promote online play under fair and controlled conditions. These titles are recognized by FIDE but are earned exclusively through online competitions hosted on the FOA platform.
Requirements
[edit]Arena titles are awarded to players who meet certain rating benchmarks in FOA-rated games across various time formats (bullet, blitz, and rapid), sustained over a series of games against other FOA players. The minimum rating requirements are:
- Arena Grandmaster (AGM): 2000+ FOA rating
- Arena International Master (AIM): 1700+ FOA rating
- Arena FIDE Master (AFM): 1400+ FOA rating
- Arena Candidate Master (ACM): 1100+ FOA rating
Games must be played with FOA’s fair play system enabled and adhere to FIDE's online regulations.
Fair Play and Title Integrity
[edit]FIDE Online Arena enforces strict fair play rules, including real-time monitoring, behavior analysis, and AI-based cheat detection. These mechanisms help preserve the credibility of titles earned online and ensure that all participants compete under standardized and secure conditions.
