He is best known for his online short-form video series Kitchen Singing, where Gargiula and fellow singer-songwriter Jonathan Tilkin sing various songs, often with the creators of said songs in the videos.[2] Gargiula is also a well-listened-to musician with millions of streams across all platforms.

Career

[edit]

Television and appearances

[edit]

Gargiula gained popularity at the age of seven after a YouTube video went viral, gaining nearly 5 million views, of him singing the National Anthem at a basketball game.[3] The internet success landed him an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, interviewing various American Idol contestants.[4] The Ellen Show led to performances on both NBC's Today Show and CBS's The Early Show.[5]

On his YouTube channel, Gargiula has been documented performing the U.S. national anthem at various sporting events.[6] Throughout his younger years, Gargiula also opened for notable musical acts like the Jonas Brothers, Lady Antebellum, The Outlaws, The Temptations, Four Tops, and Kellie Pickler.[7] He also performed "The Star Spangled Banner" at Madison Square Garden for the New York Knicks on 5 different occasions,[8] as well as at games for other professional sports teams, such as the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Twins, and LA Dodgers. Gargiula has also sung "The Star Spangled Banner" at major sporting events such as the Belmont Stakes and twice at the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.[9]

In 2018, Gargiula appeared on Fox's The Four: Battle for Stardom.[10] In 2024, Gargiula appeared on Fox's "I Can See Your Voice".[11] [12]

Social media and influence

[edit]

Starting in 2013, Gargiula gained popularity on the platforms YouTube and Vine for posting heartfelt covers of popular songs.[13] This eventually led to Gargiula co-creating the group Flashback, a Los Angeles-based YouTube a cappella group that posted covers of pop songs, leading to over 20 million views.[14] [15]

In 2020, Gargiula became a founding member of the a cappella group Earcandy[16] [17] with over 10 million followers across their social media accounts. In late 2020, the group released their debut album "An Earcandy Christmas" with Republic Records.[18]

Since then, Gargiula has built a highly engaged social media following, with nearly 6 million followers on Instagram and TikTok.[19][20] His audience grew significantly after posting a cover of Gnarls Barkley's hit "Crazy".[21], which sparked the viral "Crazy Riff Challenge"[22] and caught the attention of CeeLo Green. His newest online series, filmed in the kitchen with fellow creator and singer-songwriter, Jonathan Tilkin, has led to collaborations with artists like Teddy Swims, Tori Kelly, Jacob Collier, Victoria Justice, Kristen Bell, JoJo, and many more, amassing over 1.5 billion views across platforms.[19] [23] [24]

Music

[edit]

Known for his powerful covers of ballads, Gargiula is now sharing his own stories through music. In November 2024, Gariula collaborated with Maverick City Music and Jordin Sparks on the moving gospel track "Constant", which reached #1 on Billboard's Gospel Streaming Songs Chart.[25] [26]

Gargiula's latest single, "Empty Chair", was released March 14, 2025, a tribute to his grandfather, the man who inspired much of his love for music and storytelling.[27] [28]
