Ankit Anand (born 1997) is an Indian international parkour and gymnastics athlete. He is officially recognized by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) and became the first Indian parkour athlete to represent the country at a FIG World Championship. He competed in the Men's Speed category at the 2nd FIG Parkour World Championships held in Kitakyushu, Japan in 2024.
Early Life and Background
[edit]Ankit Anand was born in 1997 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. He began training in gymnastics and parkour at a young age, showing exceptional speed and agility. His dedication to the sport led to his recognition by Indian gymnastics authorities and eventually, the FIG.
Career
[edit]In 2024, Anand made history by representing India at the 2nd FIG Parkour World Championships. He competed in the Men's Speed category, becoming the first Indian athlete to do so on an international FIG-sanctioned stage. His participation marked a milestone in Indian parkour history.
Ankit is also actively involved in promoting gymnastics and parkour across India through workshops, school demonstrations, and coaching programs.
