Anisha Holla {born June 20, 2002} is an Indian-American entrepreneur, speaker and social media influencer. She is the founder and CEO of Foodify, a matchmaking platform that connects locally-owned restaurants to local influencers in their city.[1]
Early Life and Education
[edit]Holla was raised in Dallas, Texas and attended Centennial High School, where she graduated as the Valedictorian of her class in 2020. [2] The same year, Holla was recognized by the Coca Cola Scholars Foundation, as one of 150 awardees of the $20,000 Coca-Cola Scholarship. [3]
Holla attended the University of Texas at Dallas as a full-ride Eugene McDermott Scholar. [4] It was there that Holla first started Dallas Foodies, an Instagram page dedicated to bringing small, mom-and-pop restaurants more attention on social media. In under 2 years, Holla grew the page to 50,000 followers and 40 million annual impressions. [5][6]
Holla was chosen to give the commencement speech at her graduation, where she spoke about the unpredictability of life plans. [7]
Career
[edit]Prior to founding Foodify, Holla worked as an intern at the White House Office of Communications and a freelance writer for the restaurant section of the Dallas Observer.[8][9]
Holla launched Foodify in 2024, after discovering the impact of social media on small, local restaurants through her own page. In its first 8 months, Foodify had generated 180 influencer-restaurant matches and amassed 56 billion social media impressions for local restaurants on the platform. [10]
Within a year of launching as a student-led startup, Foodify won seed funding from the Dallas Entrepreneurs' Organization and awarded the grand prize at the University of Texas at Dallas's annual Big Idea Pitch competition.[11][12] Holla was also recognized by the Texas Business Hall of Fame.[13][14]
In 2024, Holla was selected as 1 of 43 global finalists to pitch at the TiE Women Global Pitch Competition, held in Bangalore, India.[15] Holla's startup, Foodify, has since been recognized on Good Morning Texas for it's impact on local, mom-and-pop restaurants.[16]
