Andrew Nathaniel Forde (born January 21, 1987) is a Canadian and Bajan engineer, entrepreneur, violinist, and academic. He is known for his interdisciplinary work combining engineering, data science, and the arts, and is an advocate for responsible technology development.

Early life and education

Forde was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Nano-Engineering and Materials Science Engineering from the University of Toronto. He later completed a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering at McMaster University. Forde pursued a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto, under the supervision of Mark S. Fox, Michael Gruninger, Kevin Bryan, and Scott Sanner, specializing in data science, innovation ontologies, and AI applications in engineering. [1]

Career

Forde is a Partner at KPMG Canada, specializing in Technology Strategy and Digital Transformation. His work focuses on healthcare, public sector modernization, and the adoption of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and cloud computing. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Applied Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto. [1]

Previously, Forde founded Sommerfeld Solutions, a technology company that developed The Electronic Chart (TEC), a digital health solution for medical practitioners. TEC was supported by McMaster University and the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario. [2]

Forde also established The Forde Institute, a non-profit research center dedicated to studying the societal impacts of technology and promoting responsible innovation.

Music

In addition to his engineering and entrepreneurial pursuits, Forde is a trained violinist. He has performed alongside artists such as Justin Bieber and Kardinal Offishall. In 2020, he was featured in "FreeUp! The Emancipation Day Special," a CBC program highlighting Black Canadian artists. [3]
