Some local trains have intervals at this station, like Titas Commuter, Karnaphuli Express, and more. Also, have a market within that area of the station.

History

[edit]

The Assam Bengal Railway Company, formed in England in 1892, took over the responsibility of building railways in the country. On 1 July 1895, the 150 km metre gauge line from Chattogram to Comilla and the 69 km railway line from Laksam to Chandpur were opened to the public.

In 1896, the Comilla-Akhaura-Shahbazpur railway line was established. In 1903, the private Laksam-Noakhali railway branch was opened under the management of the Assam-Bengal Railway.

In 1905, this line was purchased by the government, and on 1 January 1906, it was merged with the Assam-Bengal Railway. The railway line between Tongi-Bhairab-Akhaura was established between 1910 and 1914.[2] Amirganj railway station was built as a station on the Tongi-Akhaura line.[3]
