The post is held by a three-star rank officer (Air Marshal). The current AOM is Air Marshal Venkataramanan Rajasekhar, AVSM.[2][3][4]

History

[edit]

The position of AOM was established post-Independence as the IAF transitioned into an autonomous force. Initially, maintenance tasks were embedded within the Royal Air Force system. The growing complexity of the IAF necessitated a senior leadership role for centralized maintenance management.
