The AEKKEA-RAAB R-27 is a low-wing monoplane single-seat fighter designed in 1935 by Antonius Raab.

Overview

[edit]

The R-27 type was the first aircraft recorded as an AEKKEA-RAAB product by Jane's 1935 ed. It shared structural characteristics with the newer R-29 type, which was also developed by Antonius Raab in late 1936, though it was most probably designed earlier by Raab and never produced.[1] The R-27 featured an inline Hispano-Suiza 12Y engine, retractable undercarriage and twin machine-guns.[1]

The structure of the aircraft was based on an earlier Raab-Katzenstein model, the RK-25 monoplane. It also featured a Hispano-Suiza 12Y engine, its maximum speed was reported to be 430 km/h, and it had a light construction with wooden wings and a steel-tube fuselage.[2]
