Jason Sng (born 12 January 2004) is a Singaporean filmmaker, writer, and director best known for his emotionally driven short films and strong visual storytelling. A graduate of Temasek Polytechnic’s Digital Film & Television programme, Jason has directed a wide range of narrative and commercial projects. He is the founder of Affinity Cinematics, a production house focused on bringing imagination to life through grounded storytelling.
Early life and education
[edit]Jason was born in Singapore and is of Javanese and Chinese descent. From a young age, he displayed a passion for storytelling, often exploring mythological and philosophical themes in his writing. He pursued his interest in film at Temasek Polytechnic, where he specialised in directing and sound mixing.
Career
[edit]Jason has worked on narrative short films, commercial videos, and government campaigns. Notable projects include Midnight Melodies — a story about a young pianist coping with hearing loss due to an autoimmune disease — and Pahlawan Singa, which follows a Malay girl navigating tradition and identity through lion dancing.
He has also contributed to DrugFreeSG initiatives and produced social media content for Sembawang GRC. Jason has taken on various production roles such as director, assistant director, and post-production supervisor. These experiences have given him a strong foundation in every stage of filmmaking, from pre-production to final delivery.
In 2024, he founded Affinity Cinematics, with the mission of crafting visually compelling and emotionally impactful stories.
