Submission declined on 21 July 2025 by RangersRus (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

1844 Music is a Zambian male vocal, contemporary Christian music group based in Lusaka, Zambia. It was formed in or around 2011/12 by Martin Mwesa, son of the late Zambian music educator, John Anderson Mwesa, together with a group of like minded vocal musicians.
The early line up of the group featured seasoned quartet style vocalists and musicians in the names of Bryan Musonda on baritone, Milton Maliko Mulenga on 1st tenor, Moi Hamoonga on bass and Martin Mwesa on lead and 2nd tenor.

In 2020 they released their debut studio single, Kanyantapo.

The name 1844 is rooted in events from history that molded the Protestant movement in the 1840s. It derives the name from a movement with its roots in the religious awakening of the period around 1830s, culminating in the summer of 1844 where it was taught that Jesus would return that year.
Over the years, the group's membership has changed widely. It has featured Mwango Aaron Mubanga, Phillip Lwiindi, Emmanuel Mwika Mumba, Joseph Maambo and Mundia Kalaluka on bass; Moses Kalebaila, Chitalu Enock, Henry Mwiinde and Blake Emmanuel Kapili on baritone. On 1st tenor, the group has had Bright Chapisa, Samuel Musamba, Mazwi Chali, Mukazo "Muky" Zama and a few others. Samuel Vinthenga Changwe sang 2nd tenor.
The group has performed in different towns in Zambia. In 2024, they performed at a Prayer Breakfast[1] hosted by the Republican President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, at Pamodzi Hotel. They shared the stage with Ephraim Son of Africa, one of Zambia's most celebrated gospel artists.

They have also performed in Botswana.[2] More recently, during the Covid-19 pandemic, 1844 lent their gift, via virtual concerts, to audiences in the United States of America, United Kingdom and France. They have featured at local concerts and events where they have shared their gift. At the beginning of 2021, they featured on Radio Christian Voice's live music show, "In Concert With," where they performed live to thousands of viewers and listeners over the Internet and Radio respectively. They continue to actively perform live.
They are currently (as at July 2025) working on their debut album whose details will become available in due course.
Their debut studio single, Kanyantapo, is available on all major digital platforms worldwide.
