Çayelispor, also known as Smart Holding Çayelispor for sponsorship reasons is a Turkish sports club founded in 1949 in the town of Çayeli in Rize Province, Turkey. The club mainly plays association football.
History
[edit]The club, which rose to the 3rd League in the 1986-1987 season, began competing in professional leagues for the first time in its history. However, in the 1993-1994 season, it was relegated to the amateur league by finishing 12th in the 2nd Group of the 3rd League. Çayelispor, which finished the Rize 1st Amateur League as champions in the 2011-2012 season, started competing in the Regional Amateur League in the 2012-2013 season by beating Ardeşenspor 3-1 in the play-out match it played to advance to the Regional Amateur League. In its first season, it finished the league in 2nd place, 6 points behind Düzyurtspor, and missed the opportunity to advance to the 3rd League.
