Devendra Nath Mahto (born 1991/1992) is an Indian politician from the state of Jharkhand. He has been active in state-level and parliamentary elections, primarily as an independent or minor party candidate.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Born in 1991 (aged around 33 as of 2024) in Prastoli Kapidih, Rahe block, Ranchi district, Jharkhand.[1]

Political Career
[edit]2019 Jharkhand Assembly Elections
[edit]Contested the Silli assembly seat in 2019 as an independent candidate (or under the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha - JLKLM).[3]
Official records show him vied from JKLKM and lost, securing 41,725 votes.[4]
Declared movable assets worth ₹2.9 lakh and no immovable property or liabilities.[4]
2024 Indian General Election
[edit]Ran as an independent candidate for the Ranchi Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 general elections.[5]
At age 33, with postgraduate qualification, he declared assets totaling approximately ₹1.7 lakh and no liabilities.[6]
Official electoral data notes 11 criminal cases registered against him .
Finished third in the contest, receiving 132,647 votes, which amounted to 9.16% of the vote share; BJP's Sanjay Seth won the seat.[6]
Other Roles and Activism
[edit]Serves as Senior Vice‑President of Jharkhandi Bhasha Khatiyan Sangharsh Samiti (JBKSS), a regional activism group. He was detained by police on May 5, 2024, at Ranchi’s district election office while attempting to file nomination papers for the parliamentary election. Allegedly the arrest was under IPC Section 353 (assaulting a public servant)[7]
