Dariusz Stanisław Kamys (born 4 May 1963) is a Polish cabaret actor, writer and director. A co‑founder of the influential Potem troupe (1984–1999),[1] he later conceived and directs the long‑running improvised series Spadkobiercy (stage since 1993; television from 2008),[2][3] and, from 2002, has performed with the Hrabi [pl].[2][4] Commentators describe him as a central figure and organiser of the Zielona Góra cabaret hub (the Zielonogórskie Zagłębie Kabaretowe).[5][6]

Early life and education

[edit]

Kamys was born in Łaszczów, Lublin Voivodeship.[7][8] He spent part of his childhood in Suchy Dąb and later moved with his family to Lubin, where he finished a technical secondary school; he then studied cultural and educational pedagogy at the Tadeusz Kotarbiński Pedagogical University in Zielona Góra (now the University of Zielona Góra).[1][9][10]

Career

[edit]

While managing the student club Gęba in Zielona Góra in the 1980s, Kamys co‑founded the cabaret group Kabaret Potem on 25 November 1984 with Krzysztof Langer; the troupe subsequently operated professionally and became a leading force on the student scene.[1][10] In 1993 he conceived the improvised serial Spadkobiercy (The Heirs) and directs the stage format; the concept reached television in 2008 on Polsat within Piotr Bałtroczyk przedstawia.[2][11]

After Potem disbanded in 1999, Kamys co‑created Kabaret HiFi with Grzegorz Halama (1999–2003).[12][circular reference] In 2002 he formed Hrabi [pl] together with former Potem members, including Joanna Kołaczkowska.[6][4]

Since 2005 he has mentored and directed the amateur Great Theatre in Cigacice, staging a series of cabaret shows with local residents.[13][14][15] Outside cabaret, Kamys has appeared in films produced by the Zielona Góra community label A’Yoy, including Robin Hood – czwarta strzała (1997) and Baśń o ludziach stąd (2003), and in Nakręceni (2002).[7]

In April–June 2025 he publicly supported charity events for Joanna Kołaczkowska during her cancer treatment and appealed to fans for a collective moment of prayer or warm thoughts on 2 July 2025 at 12:00.[16][17][18][19]

Personal life

[edit]

Kamys is married to Agnieszka Kamys; they have two adopted children.[20][21] Through his marriage he was the brother‑in‑law of Joanna Kołaczkowska (1966–2025).[22]

He has lived in Cigacice and later in the wine‑growing village of Górzykowo near Zielona Góra.[10] He is active in charity initiatives, including cooperation with Caritas and support for seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic.[23]

Legacy and context

[edit]

Writers and local press identify Kamys as a leading organiser and "guardian" of the Zielona Góra cabaret milieu, linking his work from Potem through Hrabi and Spadkobiercy as a multigenerational platform for performers from the region.[10][31]
