The Danish Meat Research Institute (DMRI) is a research organization in Denmark that conducts studies on meat processing and related technologies.[1][2][3] It is part of the Danish Technological Institute and carries out research in areas related to meat production,[4] including slaughter methods, animal transport, processing techniques, refrigeration, hygiene, meat science, and environmental impact.[5][6][7]
The institute was established in 1954 by Mogens Juul, who served as its first director.[8][9] Research work later continued with the involvement of Wismer-Pedersen, a researcher from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University. Between the 1960s and 2000,[10] the institute took part in developing processing technologies for the meat industry. During this period, product development was generally undertaken by individual slaughterhouses.
