Construction projects are required to meet statutory targets for reducing the consumption of material while also increasing recycling and reuse and minimising waste.[2]
The legislation requires the establishment of metrics to measure progress and the setting of targets based on these metrics.[3]

[edit]The legislation was passed unanimously.[4]
Reception
[edit]Friends of the Earth Scotland supported the legislation, describing it as a possible "turning point for Scotland".[5]
