Chironomus okinawanus is a species of midge in the family Chironomidae.[2]

The species was first described in 1987 by the Japanese entomologists Hideo Hasegawa & Manabu Sasa,[2][3][4] from pupae and a male adult collected on Okinawa Island.[3] It was later redescribed in 1995 as Chironomus tokarabeceus[4][1] by Manabu Sasa & Hiroshi Suzuki,[4][5] from a specimen collected from the Tokara Islands.[5]
