Catalyst Brands LLC was formed in 2025 by the merger of SPARC Group and JCPenney.[1][2] In December 2024, Cooper Retail JV acquired 100% of the outstanding equity of SPARC Group Holdings. The acquisition brought together Cooper’s existing investment in department store icon JCPenney and the newly acquired operations of specialty retail brands Aéropostale, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Lucky Brand Jeans, and Nautica.[3][4][5]

Now combined under the business name Catalyst Brands, these six retailers will continue to serve customers through its wide-reaching channels including store and outlet locations in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, six brand specific e-commerce websites and applications along with domestic and international wholesale channels.

Marc Rosen, former CEO of JCPenney, leads Catalyst Brands.[6][7]
