The Campaign against the Biyarslan Clan was a military expedition in December 1562 led by Kabardian prince Temryuk Idar, with support from Russian voivode Grigory Pleshcheev.[1]
History
[edit]In 1562–1563, a joint military campaign was launched by Temryuk of Kabarda and the Tsardom of Russia, led by voivode Grigory PleShcheyev. The campaign targeted territories in the North Caucasus, including the lands of the Biyarslan noble family, who were seen as political opponents to Temryuk’s growing influence.[1] The allied forces attacked several settlements: the towns of Mokhan, Engir, and Kavan were captured, and the village of Telishka was destroyed.[2][3][4] Additional assaults were carried out against the Mshan and Son regions, resulting in heavy casualties and the capture of four local leaders. The campaign strengthened Kabardian-Russian control over strategic mountain routes toward Georgia and weakened local resistance, particularly among Vainakh and Turkic peoples-populated areas.[5][6][7][8]
