Biodun Sofuyi

Biodun Sofuyi Olabiyi (born December 26, 1979),[1] commonly known as Omobutty or Biodun Okeowo,[2] is a Nigerian[3] actress,[4] film producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist.[5][6][7] Omobutty starred in the 2006 movie Opin Irin Ajo[8] alongside Olu Jacobs[9] and King Wasiu Ayinde.[10] For her movie Tolani Osinrin, she received a MAN's Top Three Actress award in 2010. She is the first Yoruba Artiste ever to clinch the Global Excellence award[11] and she is known for her performances in Yoruba-language Nollywood films, earning recognition for her contributions to the Nigerian film industry and humanitarian causes.[12][13]

Early life and education

Olabiyi was born at Highland Maternity Hospital, Lagos Island, Lagos State,[14] Nigeria.[15] She is the only daughter in a family of five children. Her father was a pastor at the Holy Spiritual Circle Church, and her mother worked as a trader and businesswoman. She completed her tertiary education at Lagos State University,[16] Ojo, where she majored in Communication Studies.[17] Her academic foundation later contributed to her understanding of media and public engagement in the film industry.

Career

Olabiyi began her acting career in February 2006 under the Ray Eyiwunmi Organization based in Ebute Metta, Lagos. She spent a year training with the group and later featured in her first role in the movie Opin Irin Ajo, where she acted alongside Olu Jacobs and King Wasiu Ayinde.

She made the self-produced film Tolani Osinrin in 2007. Her movie Omobutty, another self produced movie, became both critically and popularly acclaimed, earning her the nickname in 2014.[18][19] In an interview in February 2025, Biodun described her break from Nollywood, dealing with public scrutiny, and her firm stance against on-screen nudity.[20]

She has also gone on to self-produce 10 movies under her belt and starred alongside Funke Akindele, Iyabo Ojo, Odunlade Adekola.

Business ventures

In addition to her film career, Olabiyi is an entrepreneur. She is the founder and CEO of Victoria Beauty, a cosmetics and skincare brand registered under NAFDAC. She holds certifications in skincare therapy and product formulation and has built a strong brand identity among Nigerian women.

Endorsements

Olabiyi has made endorsement deals. She has worked with brands like Unique Motors,[21] Luciano Clothing and Asint homes. These include being an ambassador for brands like Sterling Bank and Oasis Naija.[22]

Humanitarian activities

Olabiyi has participated in charity work and outreach, donating food, toiletries, and basic welfare supplies, especially in festive seasons and during public health drives.[23]
