Baserow is a full-stack, no-code platform developed by Baserow B.V., headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands.[1] It enables users to collaborate on applications without writing code. It is designed to be an alternative to proprietary database and application development tools.[2]

Baserow was developed to be self-hosted, making it a relevant option for organizations seeking a self-hosted alternative to platforms like Airtable.[3] The platform also addresses scalability limitations commonly associated with no-code solutions.[4] As of 2024, Baserow has introduced light AI capabilities, such as assisted field detection and smart suggestions.[5]

History

[edit]

Baserow was founded in the Netherlands by Bram Wiepjes, with the goal of creating an open-source alternative to no-code database platforms such as Airtable.[5] The platform was developed to address issues such as data ownership, vendor lock-in, and limited customization in closed-source tools.[6]

In July 2022, Baserow raised €5 million in seed funding to expand its platform.[6] The round was led by INKEF Capital, with participation from firstminute capital, Seedcamp, and Frontline Ventures.[7] According to the company, the funding was used to expand its open-source product suite into a self-hosted platform.[8]
