Anjani Sinha is an American orthopaedic surgeon and United States Ambassador-Designate to Singapore.[1][2]

Early life and education

Sinha was born in India.[3] He attended MGM Medical School and Delhi University.[4] He immigrated to the US in 1977 and worked in sports medicine.[1]

Sinha was nominated by President Donald Trump in March 2025.[2][5]

On July 9, 2025, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee held a confirmation hearing for Sinha.[6] During the hearing, he was criticized by Senator Tammy Duckworth as "unqualified" for his responses to questions about Singapore, its relationship with the United States, and its role within ASEAN.[7][8][9]

Videos from Sinha's confirmation hearing were widely covered by Southeast Asian newspapers.[6][10]

Personal life

He is married to Kiki Sinha, an Indian-born retired anesthesiologist who works at New York University.[11] They have two children and three grandchildren.[1]
