Amphidromus truongi is a species of air-breathing tree snail, an arboreal gastropod mollusk in the family Camaenidae.[1] It was described in 2021 by Vietnamese malacologist Nguyễn Ngọc Thạch and is endemic to Vietnam.

Description

[edit]

The length of this dextral shell attains 32 mm. The shell is thick-walled and stout, with strong bands below the whorl sutures, a pronounced lateral ridge, and raised, oblique ridges on the dorsal surface of the body whorl. The aperture has a pointed outer lip. Like many Amphidromus species, it shows polymorphic coloration, including dark, light, and natural patterns.[2]

Distribution

[edit]

Amphidromus truongi is endemic to central Vietnam, where it inhabits the high canopy of primary forests, living at heights of 30–50 meters above the ground, making it difficult to observe and collect.[2]

Conservation

[edit]

As of 2025, the conservation status of Amphidromus truongi has not been assessed by the IUCN. Its specialized habitat and limited range may make it vulnerable to habitat loss and environmental changes.
