Almir Badnjević (born 13 July 1986) is a Bosnian and Herzegovinian scientist and academic. He is the director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Records, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA).[1][2][3]
Early life and education
[edit]Almir Badnjević was born on 13 July 1986[4] in Bosanska Krupa, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo,[5] and received his Ph.D. in 2015 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb.[6]
Career
[edit]Badnjević has been active in both academia and the professional field since 2008. His work focuses on integrating medical devices with measurement functions into legal metrology and ensuring traceability in medical measurements. He co-authored and edited "Inspection of Medical Devices – for Regulatory Purposes,[7]" published in 2017; a second edition[8] was published in 2023. In 2022, he founded the Verlab Institute for Biomedical Engineering, Medical Devices, and Artificial Intelligence.[9]
The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina appointed Badnjević as the director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Records, and Data Exchange (IDDEEA)[1] for the 2023–2028 term.[10]

Academic contributions
[edit]Since 2015, Badnjević has been an assistant professor and head of the Department of Genetics and Bioengineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, International Burch University, in Sarajevo.[11] That same year, he established the Master's and Doctoral programs in Bioengineering in Sarajevo.
He has also been a visiting lecturer at the University of Warwick[12] in the United Kingdom since 2015.
In 2018, he was appointed as an associate professor in general electronics at International Burch University and in health informatics at the University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina.[13]
In 2019, he became an associate professor in pharmaceutical informatics at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo.
In 2022, he was appointed full professor at the Faculty of Information Systems and Technology, at the University of Donja Gorica, in Montenegro, [14] and became a senior research associate in engineering and technology at the Verlab Institute.[9] His academic portfolio includes over 200 scientific publications.[15]
