Almaz Smanbekov (Kyrgyz: Алмаз Сманбеков, born 13 February 1998) is a Kyrgyz freestyle wrestler who competes in the 57 kg weight class. He is a medalist at multiple international competitions, including the Asian Wrestling Championships and the Islamic Solidarity Games.

Career

Smanbekov represented Kyrgyzstan in the men's freestyle 57 kg event at the 2019 World Wrestling Championships in Nur-Sultan, where he placed 9th.[1]

In 2018, he competed at the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he placed 11th in the 57 kg weight class.[2]

He achieved a significant milestone in 2022 by winning a bronze medal at the Asian Wrestling Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.[3] He improved his performance the following year by securing a silver medal at the 2023 edition of the Championships held in Astana, Kazakhstan.[4]

At the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey (held in 2022 due to delays), Smanbekov earned a silver medal in the 57 kg freestyle event.[5]

Earlier in his career, he claimed a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Junior Wrestling Championships in New Delhi, India.

Smanbekov is recognized as one of Kyrgyzstan’s top freestyle wrestlers in his category, having medaled at major continental competitions and representing his country at global events such as the World Championships and Asian Games.
