Al Jafiliya (Arabic: الجافلية), also written Jafilia is a community in Dubai, United Arab Emirates primarily composed of private residential dwellings but also including Dubai's Department of Naturalization and Residency, Rydges Plaza Hotel and Al Hana Center shopping mall.[2] It also includes Ministry of Interior and has a metro station for its residents.[3]
Infrastructure and Amenities
[edit]Government Institutions
[edit]Al Jafiliya hosts several important government institutions, most notably the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA)[4], which handles immigration and residency services in Dubai. The presence of such institutions makes the area a hub for administrative services.[5]
Transportation
[edit]The community is served by the Max Metro Station, formerly known as Al Jafiliya Metro Station, located on the Red Line of the Dubai Metro. The station was renamed on August 4, 2021, following a sponsorship agreement with the Max Fashion brand. The metro station provides residents with convenient access to various parts of Dubai, including the Dubai International Airport and the Expo 2020 site.
In addition to the metro, several bus routes serve the area, including routes 10, 21, 27, 32C, and X28, further enhancing the community's connectivity.[6]
Al Jafiliya benefits from being well-connected to Dubai’s road network. The community is bordered by major routes: Sheikh Zayed Road (E 11) runs just east of Al Jafiliya, providing a quick route to areas like Downtown Dubai and Dubai International Airport (towards the north) or towards Sheikh Zayed’s suburban areas (to the south)arabmls.org. On the community’s north side, Al Jafiliya Street/Al Dhiyafa Street connects westward into Jumeirah and Satwa. The internal roads of Al Jafiliya link to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street (D 88), which runs along the eastern edge by Zabeel Park and connects to the Trade Centre roundabout. Because of its central location, driving distances from Al Jafiliya to many key city points are short: for example, about 5–10 minutes by car to Business Bay and Downtown, and roughly 15 minutes to Dubai International Airport (in normal traffic). Parking within the residential areas is usually off-street for villas, and street parking or dedicated lots for apartment buildings and institutions. The RTA has established paid parking zones on many streets, which helps regulate congestion from nearby offices.[7]
Recreation and Leisure
[edit]Al Jafiliya is adjacent to Zabeel Park, one of Dubai's largest and most popular public parks. The park features extensive green spaces, playgrounds, and the Dubai Frame, a prominent architectural landmark offering panoramic views of the city. The community's proximity to such recreational facilities enhances its appeal to families and individuals seeking leisure activities.[8]
Real Estate
[edit]The real estate landscape in Al Jafiliya comprises a mix of villas and apartments. The area is known for its relatively affordable housing options compared to other central Dubai neighborhoods. Villas in Al Jafiliya are particularly popular among families due to their spacious layouts and proximity to essential amenities.[9]
