Al Faya (Arabic: الفاية, romanized: Adh-Faya) located within the Mleiha Municipality of Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, is a site of immense historical and archaeological significance, renowned as both a heritage village and a mountain village.[1] [2][3]
Al Faya is a geographical setting, nestled amidst the rugged Jebel Faya mountain range and expansive desert landscapes, has made it a continuous nexus of human occupation for over 200,000 years. This exceptional record of human adaptation and survival in arid environments led to its prestigious inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2025, becoming the second such site in the United Arab Emirates[4] [5]
