2026 in sports
2026 in sports describes the year's events in world sport. The main sporting events for 2026 are the 2026 Winter Olympics, the 2026 Winter Paralympics, both staged in Milano Cortina, the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico and the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. 2026 will also be the final year of the Rugby League World Cup to be staged as a trio, starting with the 2026 Men's Rugby League World Cup, followed by the 2026 Women's Rugby League World Cup and the 2026 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup, all held in Australia and Papua New Guinea. From 2028 onwards, all future Rugby League World Cups will be held as standalone events. In rugby union, there will be a new international rugby union tournament, which will be known as the World Rugby Nations Championship.
