[edit]- January 5 – Maryland is impacted by the January 5–6, 2025 United States blizzard.[1]
- March 12 – Salvadoran immigrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia is detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. Three days later, he is illegally[2] deported to El Salvador and sent to the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT).[3]
- April 10 – The Supreme Court unanimously rules Abrego Garcia was illegally deported and requires. the U.S. to "facilitate" Abrego Garcia's release. Despite this, both President Donald Trump and Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele refuse to release Abrego Garcia.[4]
- May 1 – Six Flags announces that Six Flags America in Bowie will be closing at the end of the 2025 season.[5]
- May 17 – Journalism wins the 2025 Preakness Stakes, held in Baltimore.[6]
