PVL seasons

The 2024–25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season is the ongoing season of the Premier Volleyball League. As the league began aligning its calendar with the FIVB calendar, this is the first season to take place in two different calendar years. The season began with the 2024–25 All-Filipino Conference which lasted from November 9, 2024 to April 12, 2025 and is considered as the longest tournament of the PVL to be held.

This season features the first edition of the PVL on Tour Conference, which is held to accommodate the Philippines' hosting of the 2025 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship. For the first time, the league sent its top teams to compete in the AVC Women's Volleyball Champions League after previous attempts fell through.

All-Filipino Conference

[edit]

The 2024–25 Premier Volleyball League All–Filipino Conference was the 20th conference of the Premier Volleyball League, its 11th conference as a professional league, and the first conference of the 2024–25 season.[1][2] The ninth All-Filipino Conference featured twelve teams with no foreign guest players allowed.

This is considered the longest conference of the league as it is estimated to take up to 5 to 6 months, as the league aligns with the FIVB calendar.[1][3] Starting this tournament, referees from nearby countries will officiate semifinals and finals matches in a bid to mitigate bias.[4]

Creamline Cool Smashers and Petro Gazz Angels as the top two teams of the preliminary round qualified for the 2025 AVC Women's Volleyball Champions League.

Draft

[edit]

The 2025 Premier Volleyball League draft was held on June 8, 2025, at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City. The first pick was made by the Capital1 Solar Spikers.

PVL on Tour

[edit]

The 2025 Premier Volleyball League on Tour is the second tournament of the Premier Volleyball League's 2024–25 season but is billed as a preseason tournament.[7]

It is the first time the "PVL on Tour" was held as its own tournament.[8] Previously, it was used as a label to market games outside Metro Manila. The previous PVL on Tour was integrated within the 2024–25 All Filipino Conference calendar.[9]

PVL president Ricky Palou announced that the PVL will hold a pre-season tournament, supporting the national team's preparation for the upcoming tournaments including the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand. Some of the games will have a greater focus on venues outside Metro Manila.[7]

The preseason tournament was originally scheduled in July 2025 but was later moved to June 22, 2025.[10] An Invitational Conference with four local teams as well as foreign guest teams is planned as the final leg of the PVL on Tour.[7]
