Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/Editor of the Week/Nominations

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is the place to nominate someone for Editor of the Week recognition: an unsung hero who has been doing great work. To nominate an editor, add a new section to this page with a 100–200 word description of how they meet the criteria for Editor of the Week. Please be specific in describing the tasks and behaviors you are recognizing, so nominees can fully appreciate the positive effects being acknowledged. Please do not use the editor's name in the section heading, link to the editor's user page, or otherwise ping the editor.

  • Be advised that there may be a considerable "lag time" between your nomination and the actual awarding to the editor.

Sample nomination text:

I nominate Easter Bunny for his persistent efforts in tidying up articles. Often editors will hurriedly introduce new information to an article, without placing a full citation, or with spelling and grammatical errors. Over the past four months, Easter Bunny has been fixing the edits of others, doing the tedious work of completing the citation information, copy editing the prose to resolve errors and to align it with Wikipedia's Manual of Style, and fixing links to other articles. Here are some examples: [1] [2] In addition, Easter Bunny has a great positive attitude in discussions with other editors: he always finds the most promising aspects of the comments of others, and follows up on them in trying to build a genuine consensus. Without willing editors to perform cleanup tasks, Wikipedia could not sustain its level of participation from one-time editors who just want to get in and out with their edits as soon as possible. Easter Bunny is a great example of a Wikipedia editor who improves the community through his excellent work! Example (talk) 03:58, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

I nominate Nikkimaria (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for outstanding work in the WP:Featured Article process. For many years, they've always been there, helping out, answering questions. One of the jobs they perform is validating the images within FA-nominated articles to ensure they meet the Wikipedia:Image use policy requirements ... that is a difficult, painstaking, and often thankless task. Speaking personally: about a month ago, I prematurely nominated Silent Parade for FA, and Nikkimaria quickly and politely let me know it was not quite ready ... so I was able to gracefully withdraw it before any public humiliation. In sum, they've been working hard, behind the scenes. Without them, Today's Featured Article on WP's front page would not be the same.

Support: Has Nikki really not had this? Without doubt one of the people FAC most relies upon: second to none for knowledge of copyright, and always generous with their time in helping others get a fraction as far advanced in that area as they have. I searched for their name in WP:WikiProject Editor Retention/Editor of the Week and did not find it. But I'm not sure if that produces authoritative results. Noleander (talk) 19:38, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
She's not in the hall of fame. Gog the Mild (talk) 19:43, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Good grief. If I was only allowed to award an Eddie to a single Wikipedian, ever, it would be Nikkimaria. FAC would fall apart without her - 4,500+ reviews!! Stop and think about that for a moment. This year she did something I would have guaranteed was impossible - got George Washington to FA. Both of these are just in her spare time. She is a very active coordinator at FAR. I could go on. And the sheer quality of this vast volume of work is what I find most impressive of all. Heell yes. Gog the Mild (talk) 19:41, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Support per gog and others. Dracophyllum 21:01, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support The invaluable contributions to the FAC process alone make this a no-brainer. TompaDompa (talk) 21:19, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
