An FAC review

[edit]

Hi Jaguar! How are things going? I am so glad to see you are still active. I initiated an FAC about a song by a newer artist who doesn't yet have a lot of fans on Wikipedia. By any chance, would you have the time and interest to give it a review? No worries at all if it is not possible. Hope you are in good health.--NØ 03:43, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MaranoFan, it's good to hear from you again. You've been more active than me! I will leave some comments soon. From a cursory glance the article appears to be almost there. ♦ JAGUAR  09:31, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! 210,000 edits is definitely something so I think you are quite active as well :P and we are all very thankful for that.--NØ 09:38, 15 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Template editor granted

[edit]

Your account has been granted the "templateeditor" user permission, allowing you to edit templates and modules that have been protected with template protection. It also allows you to bypass the title blacklist, giving you the ability to create and edit editnotices. Before you use this user right, please read Wikipedia:Template editor and make sure you understand its contents. In particular, you should read the section on wise template editing and the criteria for revocation.

You can use this user right to perform maintenance, answer edit requests, and make any other simple and generally uncontroversial edits to templates, modules, and edinotices. You can also use it to enact more complex or controversial edits, after those edits are first made to a test sandbox, and their technical reliability as well as their consensus among other informed editors has been established. If you are willing to process edit requests on templates and modules, keep in mind that you are taking responsibility to ensure the edits have consensus and are technically sound.

This user right gives you access to some of Wikipedia's most important templates and modules; it is critical that you edit them wisely and that you only make edits that are backed up by consensus. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

If you were granted the permission on a temporary basis you will need to re-apply for the permission a few days before it expires including in your request a permalink to the discussion where it was granted and a {{ping}} for the administrator who granted the permission. You can find the permalink in your rights log.

Always precious

[edit]

Ten years ago, you were found precious. That's what you are, always. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:50, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Gerda. Time is precious, because I can't believe how much of it has gone by. I hope you're well. ♦ JAGUAR  07:55, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! - always check my talk to see about wellness, - I am fine but too many (subjects) die, and their articles are often in a state that leaves a lot to be desired, which to change now fills most of my time here, right now Alfred Brendel. Today's story is a particularly sad case, - a new article in collaboration. How about you? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:04, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
94 is a good age for anybody. There is much about Wikipedia to be desired, so much content with such little time to improve it. I am also well, thank you. I'm glad that you are still active and around! ♦ JAGUAR  08:26, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that 94 is a good age, and am - in his case - sadder about the miserable state the article was in as long as he lived (getting better, 3 people working on it), but I am - as said - particularly sad about the violent death of the other, at age 57. Listen to him singing "Comfort me" (of all texts) - top of my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:52, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Citation question

[edit]

In the GAN for NHL Hockey, you mentioned including the Internet Archive links for old print sources. Since my recent editing spree started, I have noticed these more often in various articles and have found them to be quite helpful. But I was under the impression this was discouraged because the material is copyrighted. My editing hay day was over a decade ago and I've been re-acclimating to Wikipedia's current policies and guidelines, so I was hoping if you could point me to any applicable talk pages or Wikipedia pages that could clarify this for me. Appreciate the guidance. (Guyinblack25 talk 19:15, 21 June 2025 (UTC))[reply]

No problem, it feels strange to be 'back' myself. Using URLs from the Internet Archive is not frowned upon, in fact it's encouraged to mitigate link rot. All the articles I've raised to FA/GA contain scans from the Internet Archive, and I think that tells you all you need to know. It might raise an issue if you were to sidestep a paywall, though. It's not a copyright violation as long as said text isn't copied directly from the material to the article. Jaguar (talk) 23:24, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
