Question from Bossybritches (16:19, 6 June 2025)
[edit]Hi there. I really enjoy doing this, but it takes a lot of focus. Can I create a wiki page for myself? I have some street cred and references. --Bossybritches (talk) 16:19, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there @Bossybritches! If by "wiki page for yourself" if you mean an autobiography, writing about yourself on Wikipedia is strongly discouraged. However, otherwise, feel free to follow the directions here to write your first article. Thanks, ~delta (talk • cont) 05:29, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
- I did work up a a page with citations and quotes in what I believe was neutral language and submitted it. A colleague said she submitted a page for me a long time ago, but it never appeared, so I thought I'd give it another crack! Bossybritches (talk) 14:01, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
Question from Bossybritches (16:21, 6 June 2025)
[edit]I also wanted to ask about citations. I found a few articles on John Dowling in Academia.com that I wanted to cite, but could not find links to do that. Do you have any guidance? --Bossybritches (talk) 16:21, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there! With regards to citations, please see here on guidelines of formatting them. However, with academia.com, please take note of the fact that not all of the sources there may be reliable since it may contain retracted papers, unreviewed preprints etc. Thanks, ~delta (talk • cont) 05:32, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. And Point taken re: Academia.com
- Another question: if I am working on an edit and have to stop, will I be able to return to that article and make more changes?
- Thanks! It looks like you are busy studying and I appreciate your replies. Bossybritches (talk) 13:59, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
- With regards to the studying for finals template on my talkpage - I forgot to remove it, my exam season is over right now.
- Unfortunately though, I don't think you will be able to return to an article and have your unsaved edit loaded if you do not initially save/complete your edit. ~delta (talk • cont) 17:36, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
AntiVandal Use
[edit]Hi, I noticed that you used AntiVandal to revert this edit on the page Mobile phone recycling. I think the use of AntiVandal here was inappropriate. I agree with your reasoning for the revert and that it should have been reverted, but I don't think AntiVandal should have been the tool used to do so. This appears to have been a good faith edit and also this IP user's first contribution to Wikipedia. I'm sure your intention was just to make doing the revert quicker, but I worry that from a newcomer's perspective seeing the "AntiVandal" tags attached to a reversion of their first edits may put them off contributing and may come across as WP:BITING. Could I please suggest that in future you limit use of AntiVandal to obvious vandalism? Thanks! SI09 (talk) 20:09, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @SI09, first things first sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for the reminder. I haven't been active on Wikipedia for a while as I was busy with IRL stuff for the past year and my policy knowledge is a bit dusty, will keep this in mind for future edits. Thanks, ~delta (talk • cont) 20:11, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
Question from Waymorefan (03:28, 17 June 2025)
[edit]Hi! I tried to link a new single by a music artist and it was removed wrongly. How do I cite a single that has been released? Link the official music video from YouTube? I was also told that Yahoo is not a reliable source, yet it’s the Rolling Stone official release information. Either way the person who removed it was extremely condescending and not helpful at all. --Waymorefan (talk) 03:28, 17 June 2025 (UTC)
June thanks

Question from ArgonForge (01:27, 2 July 2025)
[edit]Hi! This is interesting. I edited a page for the first time a moment ago and my change was understandably reverted, though I think mistakenly. So I made a login to see how all this works on Wikipedia, for once.
I guess my first question is how to substantiate my edits. What makes something stick? In this case it was the diameter of a specific type of half dollar coin that I happen to have and measured as significantly different than what's listed on the page for it. But I'm curious about the process more generally too. --ArgonForge (talk) 01:27, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
