I want to see this working out – plenty of deputies, assistants, and ad hoc roles that can be cut. Problem is, compared to prior administrations, this one (more often than normal) blurts out policy platitudes without properly considering the grunt-work that has to be done. Consolidating combatant commands and service commands, likely rolling back the Biden-era USAF reorganisation. I expect such an initiative to be half-cooked and targeted, rather than actually useful – I might've trusted SecDef Gates or Mattis on this one, but not Hegseth. Yeah, there's definitely no need for USSOCOM to have both a Deputy Commander and Vice Commander. But rather than just ordering a top line percentage cut, it would be better to think strategically. EPMen (talk) 13:54, 6 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
