General sanctions/Coronavirus disease 2019
[edit]This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
Please carefully read this information:
A community discussion has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The specific details of these sanctions are described here.
Broadly, general sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.
Help venues
[edit]When you wrote at the Teahouse that This is an alleged “security feature”. I suspect internet conglomerates are either training AI stuff or are harvesting your info. Either way, such things are complete bollocks, and there is in fact no way to tell a human accurately apart from an AI bot. It just can’t be done ever
, that was not helpful. Accurate information can be found at Special: Captcha. The editor is not yet autoconfirmed. When you wrote at the Help Desk Try the article’s discussion page
in response to an inquiry seeking input about creating a new article, that was not helpful because an article that does not yet exist does not have a talk page. When you wrote at the Help Desk Music genres are subjective anyway. No two people can agree on them, so don’t expect many sources. If you’re trying to document new genres, then it would necessary to realise that they’re mostly the works of quite eccentric people. Only through mass acceptance will they get to be thought of as proper genres. To give you a simple example, I could easily invent a new genre tomorrow, but it won’t count unless loads of people listen to it and make it notable
, that was not helpful. Countless reliable sources agree that the Rolling Stones are a rock and roll band and that B.B. King was a blues guitarist and that Pete Seeger was a folk singer and that Snoop Dogg is a rapper. And so on. So, "don’t expect many sources" is unhelpful advice.
If you cannot offer helpful and accurate answers to a question, then please do not answer it. Leave it to someone else. Cullen328 (talk) 04:31, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
Sporran
[edit]I just looked up what a Sporran is. The article is not very well sourced, and I wondered if you would be interested in improving it. WhatamIdoing (talk) 03:37, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- I don’t think the sources are that bad Pablothepenguin (talk) 18:51, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- The quality of the sources may be fine, but I don't think there are enough of them. Sporran#Types contains almost 700 words and zero refs. Sporran#Typical types contains over 600 words and just one ref. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:55, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
Topic ban relating to Scotland
[edit]I missed this whole discussion back in February, but I was under the impression that this indefinite topic ban was still in place. It's still listed at Wikipedia:Editing restrictions#Final_warnings / Unblock_conditions at any rate. That thread was in violation of the topic ban and you're lucky no one in the discussion was aware of it. But YOU should definitely still be aware of it. You already tried the "I forgot" excuse before, so that's not going to fly anymore. The thread is actually a great example of why you were topic banned in the first place. Don't do it again.
