Farhan Khan Rio (born 2 February 1984) is a Bangladeshi Film actor and model known for his performances in music videos and feature films. In his personal life, he is known as Farhad Chowdhury Shourob, while he uses the name Farhan Khan Rio professionally. He gained recognition for his roles. He appeared in the action thriller film "Psycho" (2022) and the Indo-Bangla joint production "Dorod"(Dard 2024 film) (2024).

Career

Farhan Khan Rio began his career in 2012 as a fashion model, working with various local brands. He later transitioned into acting and has since appeared in feature films, short films, music videos, and web series. He has acted in a range of roles in mainstream and independent productions. His contributions to the Bangladeshi entertainment industry have helped him build a dedicated fan base. He gained recognition through his appearances in several music videos, notably featuring in the song "Bolte Parini"directed by national award winning director Saikat Nasir singer Kumar Bishwajit.[1][2][3]

In 2022, Rio made his debut in the Bangladeshi film industry with a negative role in the Action thriller Psycho,[4] directed by Anonno Mamun cocast Ziaul Roshan Puja Cherry.The film received media attention upon release, Rio played a villainous character , and marked a significant transition from modeling to acting.[5][6][7]

Dard (2024 film) is a 2024 Indo-Bangladesh joint venture psychological romantic thriller film co-written, co-produced and directed by Anonno Mamun and produced by Kamal Mohammad Kibria Lipu, Ashok Dhanuka, Himanshu Dhanuka and Karan Shah under the banners of Action Cut Entertainment, Kibria Films, Eskay Movies and One World Movies respectively. The film was released internationally in countries including the United States, Canada, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and the Maldives, where it performed well at the box office.[8] The film opened to enthusiastic audience reactions locally, according to media reports. The film set a record for opening day box office collections, marking one of the highest first-day earnings for a Bangladeshi film.[9]

The film was simultaneously shot in Hindi and Bengali, with the Bengali version titled as Dorod setting a new box office record.Farhan Khan Rio played a police officer in the film. Indian media and YouTube channels commented on his performance.

  • Music Video: "Bhalobasa dao" by Evan Monawar, Singer Akash Sen & Dilshad Nahar Kona. The music video was based on the story of Romeo and Juliet. According to director Evan Monowar, it was an experimental attempt to adapt Shakespeare's classic play into a musical drama format.[10]

Farhan Khan Rio also earned critical recognition for his role in the short film Angul, appreciated for its dramatic intensity and modern adaptation.[11]
