Please add a non-breaking space
before the tag
in the last list item "accounts(meta)" → "accounts (meta)", like so: Special:Diff/1274885732/1275069918. Rationale: consistency with the first tag
in the list item "Articles created (redirects)". —andrybak (talk) 22:07, 10 February 2025 (UTC)

I'd like to suggest changing
* [{{fullurl:Special:ListUsers|limit=1&username={{urlencode:{{{1|Example}}}}}|QUERY}} User rights]
to
* [[Special:UserRights/{{{1|Example}}}|User rights]]
for a few reasons:
- It's cleaner, shorter, and uses a standard wikilink
- Special:UserRights shows the user's current rights (example) as Special:ListUsers does, so no loss of functionality, but additionally provides a history of rights changes, which can be useful
- Special:UserRights doesn't have the unnecessarily long paragraph at the top that describes what users are – if you're on a contributions page clicking a link called "User rights", you probably know this already

- Added to sandbox. Comparison below: — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:53, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Done * Pppery * it has begun... 23:11, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Iiii I I I, MSGJ, and Pppery: By any chance, would any of you object to including the old Special:ListUsers link as a superscript in addition to the Special:UserRights link? I've sandboxed the proposed change here: [1] (now visible in MSGJ's comparison above). After years of having the old link, I started using that ListUsers link as a one-click way to see the exact timestamp when a user account was created, in addition to their user rights. I understand this may seem like a bit of a selfish request—if needed, I would be happy to ask around to see if anyone else would find this useful too. Mz7 (talk) 18:49, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- Another argument is that, for administrators, the ListUsers interface is actually the less-cluttered one, since UserRights will take you to a form that lets you modify user rights. Mz7 (talk) 19:05, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
Note: the second to last link ("accounts") also shows the timestamp of account creation in section/box "Global account information" (second box from the top) as field "Registered:". —andrybak (talk) 19:06, 26 June 2025 (UTC)- I take that back. For older accounts the "accounts" link can show the timestamp of when WP:SUL happened for the account (i.e. some time around 2015). —andrybak (talk) 19:14, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- What nobody seems to have noticed is that the contributions page - which AFAIK is the only place that MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer is used - has the user account creation date at the top. For example, as I type this, Special:Contributions/Redrose64 shows "A user with 277,390 edits. Account created on 5 May 2009." So, for the purposes of checking that date, no additional link is necessary. What this doesn't provide is the actual time of creation, present in ListUsers. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:59, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- 🤦 Oh... All three of the pages mentioned so far show the WP:SUL date when enwiki is not the homewiki: Special:Contributions/Andrybak shows
Account created on 9 January 2015.
, ListUsers –Created on 5 May 2009 at 12:46
Created on 9 January 2015 at 20:47
, Special:CentralAuth/Andrybak –Registered: 20:44, 9 January 2015 (10 years ago)
. - The only places showing the real™ account creation date are these pages on my homewiki, e.g. ListUsers
Created on 8 October 2010 at 19:00
. - So it's all depends on what you count as the account creation. —andrybak (talk) 21:38, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- Er, ListUsers for Andrybak doesn't show "Created on 5 May 2009 at 12:46", it shows "Created on 9 January 2015 at 20:47". Where did you get the "Created on 5 May 2009 at 12:46" from? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:30, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- That was a misclick, my bad. Corrected above. —andrybak (talk) 22:38, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
