Associated acts

[edit]

The "associated acts" parameter needs to be reinstated. The parameters that supposedly replace it do not cover all cases, such as common collaborators or intermittent band membership. This is demonstrated by the high number of pages still using the deprecated parameter, which are now hiding important information from readers. Please reinstate this parameter post-haste. A parameter that attempts to cover every possible case does not seem like a positive. Nikkimaria (talk) 23:56, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, unfortunately, field was problematic, as many editors struggled at making good judgement calls on listing good examples of being "associated". Sergecross73 msg me 02:10, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Works instead of Discography

[edit]

Last year I proposed changing the "Discography" parameter to "Works", as seen in Infobox person. This will allow users to additionally include the links for videography, list of live performances, etc. Please consider it again, the previous attempt was barely discussed. This change was also approved by the original proposer of the discography parameter back when it was first proposed, and I still support this. Unfortunately there just isn't a lot of discussion, maybe ask for comment or approval at WT:WPMU. Miklogfeather (talk) 00:11, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just included a call there. It's kind of frustrating how such a simple change is taking months. GustavoCza (talkcontribs) 01:50, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support, it will helpfully broaden the parameter's purpose. Victor Lopes Fala!C 13:07, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Add Publisher information

[edit]

Hello there, I'm hoping to amend the Infobox for artists to include their Music Publishers. Currently they only include Record Label information. This is really important to give credit especially to singer/songwriters Samcarew (talk) 14:08, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A label has been added for this – see the ibox in the Ed Sheeran article. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 18:01, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 12 June 2025

[edit]

Add the ability to add relatives to a solo musical artist to connect a musical family. For example, I am working on an article for the cellist David Coleman and want the infobox to have the relative connect to his sister, Lisa Coleman. XlosVSM (talk) 07:33, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit template-protected}} template. – Jonesey95 (talk) 12:57, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Add signature parameter

[edit]

Recently, I've been uploading and adding a lot of signatures to articles, especially musicians. Usually, this is an easy copy-paste task of "| signature = etc.", but for many musical artists that don't use "infobox person", the task becomes slightly longer as I would have to add a module for the infobox person into "infobox musical artist". While this is mostly a QoL change, I also think it would help declutter the infobox and make it neater when viewing. Lastly, if this change is implemented, it would be preferred that the signature would appear on the article on the bottom of the infobox instead of how it might be in "infobox YouTube personality", where I feel it makes the infobox more visually cluttered. Thank you for your time. - dwarfroe (talk / contr) 08:16, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As someone who sees adding signatures to biographies as an undue trivial inclusion, a waste of space, and a distraction 99% of the time, I would rather do away with the paramater in most infoboxes, save perhaps from ones like Template:Infobox officeholder or Template:Infobox artist where the person's job would involve signing official documents often and the signature may be recognisable or hold actual importance. I can see much more value for a logo parameter for musicians, not that I'm completely on board with that idea either since it would probably encourage people unfamiliar with Wikipedia's fair use policy to upload a ton of copyrighted logos.
I also feel that musicians' signatures, if included, would be better sourced from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or instances like Billboard's Open Letter on Gun Violence than from some signed merchandise or a letter to a fan, since the latter could be done swiftly and can vary massively in design (search "John Lennon signature" and see how inconsistent they are), and the former are already scanned or already SVGs so less original manipulation would be involved. Another gripe (sorry): please remove the empty space around the signature images. Miklogfeather (talk) 14:27, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
