Release timeline

[edit]

In my sandbox is a full release timeline of every Thomas series and movie. Should it be added to the History section under the infobox or would it be better suited for the franchise article? SleepDeprivedGinger (talk) 12:44, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Policies regarding links:

[edit]

@NacreousPuma855 Please read the guideline WP:CITEONE " If the authoritative sources are not controversial, they should generally be preferred. For example, a company's own website is probably authoritative for an uncontroversial fact like where its headquarters is located, so newspaper articles need not be cited on that point." And WP:AMAZON "As a reliable source: check Sometimes. This website is usually used for past or upcoming media release dates." And the previous discussion here:Talk:Merlin (2008 TV series)#c-YodaYogaYogurt154-20240908152100-Newsjunkie-20240904032100 Note the comment : "the info is legitimate. word it in a way that is neutral." newsjunkie (talk) 17:30, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For the Thomas Land citation, I'm wondering if the reference is WP:QUESTIONABLE, or WP:SELFSOURCED, for Amazon, you might be right. Citations will be kept pending further input. NacreousPuma855 (talk) 17:55, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think the first one would be considered reliable per WP:ABOUTSELF newsjunkie (talk) 18:03, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@NacreousPuma855I don't think the Amazon discussion really applies to the first reference at all as it's an official website. I think that at least should be able to stay with the primary source tag that was added. (And ideally one could also wait a few days to see if there is any more input regarding both references before removing again) newsjunkie (talk) 22:38, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There is a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television#Official website/Amazon release info as Link/References at Thomas & Friends. NacreousPuma855 (talk) 22:40, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That conversation hasn't so far addressed the other link at all and adding the primary source tag for both links like the other user did would also seem to be a solution for now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Primary_sources newsjunkie (talk) 22:48, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Complete removal does not always have to be the only solution if the information is verified per WP:Preserve newsjunkie (talk) 23:10, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas & Friends 1983 Pilot

[edit]

The 1983 Down the Mine Pilot was Released on Youtube 9th May 2025 at 18:00 (BST) for the 80th anniversary of the Railway Series Book.

The pilot should be mentioned in the Early years and the series' success section Wycombefan (talk) 19:10, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm thinking about rewriting most of the History section soon. If I do, I'll make sure to include it. As of now, it's perfectly fine in the Broadcast section in my opinion. SleepyRedHair (talk) 20:38, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
