Uncited information and page standards

[edit]

Hello all,

I browsed the page today out of curiosity, to find that this page was out of shape - particularly, the addition of the "ACM Class" (of which I have seen no sources or media releases for), and some standards which are not inline with other pages about Australian locomotives.

First question: while I consider myself an avid transport enthusiast, I've not seen any sources talk about Aurizon ordering more GT46C ACe locomotives beyond the GWB class. Am I looking in the wrong places (i.e. they have actually ordered more), or is this purely speculative/fantasy?

Secondly, page standards. I renamed the last section from "Disposition" to "Fleet", matching other Australian locomotive pages such as the UGL Rail C44aci page. Was the initial name "Disposition" out of error, not realising the standards of other similar pages, or an intentional change as part of a wider project which I am unaware of? This is in addition to more minor standards such as table formatting, date formatting etc.

I'd like answers to see exactly what needs to be fixed and how I can help, seeing a page about a topic which I am passionate about being messy annoys me.

Sincerely, ArrowAU (talk) 09:35, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, such edits annoy me quite a lot. I had seen the ORN class on here previously before, (wouldn't surprise me if it was done by the same IP address) and I had to delete it off the site twice, as while they are classed the GT46CU-ACe they are narrow gauge coal hauling locomotives in Queensland. There needs to be a new page for EMD GT46C-Ace GEN 2 Locos as they are very different from EDI-EMD GT46C-Ace with SIX newer, lighter inverters, shorter hood, lighter gross weight, carrying more fuel & entirely American made. In Queensland there are also Bowen Rail's GT46ACS Locos. Tubby.Lunchbox (talk) 09:12, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

EMD (formerly Downer EDI Rail) GT46C-ACeDowner EDI Rail GT46C ACe – Revert undiscussed move, twice having being moved without discussion, and I don't want to get into a move war. Stable title since 2009, and current convention is to use the original owner or original builder in the name, not the current owner(s) or current builder(s). @Malin the railfan: as involved. Fork99 (talk) 23:47, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Support: I agree with you, as the current title makes less sense than the previous and contrary to WP:TWP/MOS. Also why didn't you bring this move request to WP:RM/TR, considering that you stated Malin's page move is an undisscussed action. EditorGirlAL07 (talk) 05:20, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I did consider it, but I figured this was easier and might as well have a discussion, doesn't hurt. Fork99 (talk) 10:36, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh and also, I was able to revert the first undiscussed move without needing a technical request, but I wasn't sure if the second one would go through without needing a technical request, and again I didn't want to get into a move war unilaterally against Malin if it did go through. I didn't think it would make sense to make a technical request without having tried moving it myself first. Fork99 (talk) 10:42, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, now I can see your reason why. In addition, I've seen this kind of page-move dilemma before with Indian locomotive class WAM-2, where the page was moved thrice from its original title "Indian locomotive class WAM-2/3" in May 2021 and ended up with the additional word "Railways" in its title for the next three years until I had made a successful move request in February 2025, based on the fact that that article is mainly about the WAM-2. In short, situations like the GT46C-ACe article is nothing new, but worth bringing up. EditorGirlAL07 (talk) 11:50, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
