In the first section, update the definition of Brain Rot based on a recent (and first) peer-reviewed article on this topic:

In Internet culture, brain rot (or brainrot) is a colloquial term that refers to the negative cognitive, emotional, and behavioral effects resulting from the purposeless, repetitive, and excessive consumption of trivial, unchallenging, and low-quality digital media content, primarily for short-form entertainment.[1] It also applies to Internet content deemed to be of low quality or value, or the supposed negative psychological and cognitive effects caused by it… 2607:FEA8:86A5:9700:45E2:59C7:397B:FE99 (talk) 18:39, 30 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! That was fast! 2607:FEA8:86A5:9700:45E2:59C7:397B:FE99 (talk) 20:10, 30 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
eraser Undone; the lead already said Brain rot is Internet content deemed to be of low quality or value, or the supposed negative psychological and cognitive effects caused by it., this shouldn't have been replaced with new MOS:FIRSTSENTENCE saying that it's just the cognitive effects, relegating the Internet content aspect (which makes up nearly all of the article body) to a secondary "also", then repeating a mention of cognitive effects. Authenticity of picture example

What is the source for the picture of the supposed banned word list in a school? It seems dubious. turtle (talk) 22:03, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Image should be changed to something more notable and more representable. I commented this in May:
I believe the image on the article should be changed to an image which represents brainrot better. I would nominate something like Skibidi Toilet, as it is arguably the face of brainrot and is more representable. Also, not sure how "CP" is brainrot. Sosumiw (talk) 13:37, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Does seem bad to have an image illustrating an idea - that the words are banned in at least one school classroom - when this isn't discussed anywhere in the text, and also seems a bit unlikely. I've removed it. Belbury (talk) 14:12, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
