This article is wide in geography whereas country articles such as Wildfires in Turkey are long in time.
My preference would be to excerpt from country articles to geographically wider articles such as this. Because I suspect editors are more likely to be knowledgeable about countries than years. Chidgk1 (talk) 08:24, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I split off 2025 Izmir wildfires into its own article given how much I've read about that fire in particular, but I believe each country's fire season is probably independently notable and could have enough sources to write an article. Right now {{2025 wildfires}} is mostly a list of American fires. Citing (talk) 18:55, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly disagree. In 2022 we had 2022 European and Mediterranean wildfires and left it at that, and we should do the same for this year’s fires. There's no point creating separate articles for each country when they can all be covered in one article. Furthermore, a few years down the line those articles would likely just get merged back into one anyway. harrztalk20:57, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That article has had templates asking for updates and reorganization since 2022, and two of the sections absolutely dwarf the rest of the text—to me this suggests that splitting into new articles would be a good idea. I think creating new main articles is in line with the WP:SPLIT guidelines as well as advice at Wikipedia:WikiProject Wildfire/Guidelines. We don't necessarily need articles for each country but I think it's silly to say we should have no articles split off, especially if there are plentiful reliable sources (both in news coverage and scientific analysis) and free media such as on-the-ground photos and satellite imagery.
