Selfie with Abu Mahdi is a documentary film directed by Vahid Farahani, which tells the story of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces, in the “resistance fronts”. This story, which is a product of the Ouj Art and Media Organization (2016), tells the story of the operations related to Salah al-Din and the recapture of Jurf al-Sakhr, which is considered the beginning of ISIS’s defeats. This documentary film is produced by Seyyed Hashem Mousavi and written by Mehdi Motahar. Vahid Farahani also directed and shot it. The duration of this film is 45 minutes. This film is briefly stated as follows: “Abu Mahdi is a middle-aged Iraqi commander who at that time played the main role in the general mobilization against ISIS. He has been fighting among the people against the common threats in Iraq for many years. And now the story of the war that was the beginning of the domino of ISIS's defeats to this day: Operation Salahuddin and the retaking of Jurf al-Sakhr".[5][6][7][8][9]

Introduction to Abu Mahdi

Jamal Jaafar Muhammad Ali Al-Ibrahim, known as Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis (1333-1398), was the deputy commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces. He was a member of the Islamic Dawa Party and the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq, and one of the founders of the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades and the Popular Mobilization Forces. He is considered one of the most influential Iraqi commanders in expelling ISIS from Iraq. Abu Mahdi was killed along with Qassem Soleimani on January 3, 2019, near Baghdad airport following an attack by American forces.
