Saša Pukl (born 26 July 1970) is a Slovenian professional basketball referee, who has been a FIBA international referee since 2000 and is regarded as one of the top European officials of his generation.[1] He has officiated at multiple Olympic Games, FIBA World Cups, and EuroBasket tournaments, and is also active in the EuroLeague.[2]

Refereeing career

Pukl began officiating professionally in Slovenia in the mid-1990s and was nominated as a FIBA referee in 2000.[1] His international career includes appearances at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.[3]

He has also officiated at the FIBA Basketball World Cup and EuroBasket tournaments, and he is regularly selected for high-level international and continental games.[1] Pukl is an experienced referee in the EuroLeague, where he has handled both regular-season and playoff games for many seasons.[2]

Recognition

Pukl is respected in the European officiating community for his composure and consistency, and has frequently been involved in referee training and development programs under FIBA Europe.[4]
