Clifford's writing career began in 2006, when she began writing for a local newspaper. Her work has appeared in publications such as Motherboard*,[2] Broadly*, Vice*,[3] and The Culture Trip.[4] She has published extensively for Curbed[5] and has appeared on local news networks discussing issues like gentrification and the digital divide in MacArthur Park.[6]

In addition to journalism, Clifford has worked with major advertising agencies including Media Arts Lab,[7] 72andSunny, and R/GA. She has concepted and written campaigns in collaboration with artists and directors such as Damien Chazelle,[8][9][10] FKA twigs, and Megadeth.[11] Her campaign for Megadeth, titled Nature Is Metal, received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Commercial in 2019,[12] earning Clifford membership in the Television Academy. In 2025, her screenplay for the upcoming feature film ZANA was recognized in the top percentile on Hollywood’s annual Black List.[13]

[edit]

After college, Clifford joined the Getty Research Institute's Digital Art History team, where she served as project manager for the Getty Scholars' Workspace.[16] Her work explores the relationship between art, technology, and culture,[17] primarily through video art, projection, and painting.[18] Her collaborative project DH4 with Victoria Wells was exhibited at the Getty Center,[19] and her projection work has been featured at the Hammer Museum[20] as well as in numerous music festivals and live performances.[21]
